Austin/Morris 8CWT Van (Ethel)
Ethel is our works van and was acquired in 2013, after being stood for 4 years she was patched up and MOT’d with one one or two advisories, the plan is to restore her over time as a rolling restoration Ethel our Austin/Morris 8CWT Van is currently required in everyday service. We believe that she used to work for the Post Office on the Royal Mail delivery fleet but we can not confirm it. Over the last 2 years Ethel has had a constant amount of work under taken mainly as running repairs but also a few modern improvements such as disc brakes. it is hoped that when the body work is restored properly that she will return to traffic in the old British Rail “Blood and Custard” livery but with our company logo and details.
Update: Summer 2015:
Ethel has had a nice new coat of paint this was debuted at the Lymm Historic Transport Day event on June 28th she is now carrying a new livery of Red and Cream which has been coach painted, this was done to serve two purposes the first to prevent her rusting as much, and the second to give her a much improved appearance than miss matched tatty green and black paint.
